After a very productive weekend our fence is complete (with the exception of the gate). P did a phenomenal job on it. Our yard doesn't have one level spot I swear but it came out great. We can longer see the houses around us which means they can't see us. Which is a good thing. I'm sure if anyone was up at 6:30am before the fence was there and were looking out their windows they thought "What is that crazy woman doing filling her bird bath this early in the morning??" or "Is she really gardening this early??" Yes, on both counts I am a morning person. For the record our neighbors are very friendly and nice.
Some people have asked why are you putting up a fence they will probably be making us move in the next couple years. Couple of years being the answer.
We know it will be a couple of years before they come knocking on the door saying it's time to tear down our house. One of our neighbors who stopped by this weekend to comment on P's outstanding work just happened to be "informed" on the housing contract. Seems like the privatized housing will be announced soon along with some other information. They will not be doing anything in East Housing. No rebuilding just tearing it down. All housing will be on Main Base. Also, a great/odd bit of news. There is no limit on square footage for the houses now. So the new housing (mostly officer) that will be built next (only took 10 years) will be much larger then the current new housing. When the newest housing was built a wrongly imposed square footage restriction was used which meant the houses are smaller then they needed to be. So you guessed it all of them are now considered SUBSTANDARD and will need to be renovated. Unbelievable. Oh well... that's the military for you.
