New York....

We are still enjoying our visit at Grandma's in NY and will be until the beginning of next week. The trip here was good, long though. The girls are old enough now that when we travel they are more of a help then anything which is always nice when you are going to be spending that much time in airports. As most of you know the reason for our spring break trip here was to meet the newest member of our family, my sister's 2 month old daughter, Sophia. She has got to be the most easy going baby I have ever seen. She rarely fusses and is always smiling. She is just an adorable happy baby. M & K are hands on cousins, feeding, playing with and changing Sophia.
Of course we have been shopping. Wait, let me rephrase that, the girls have been shopping, I've just been driving them around. I'll post more pictures soon but here's one of Sophia from Easter. We're off to go enjoy the few inches of snow that we got last night. By enjoy I mean look out the window at! ; )

Promotion Party...

First off sorry no pictures. My camera was in my car and I was to busy to even stop and think about going out to get it. The last few days have been non stop. Thursday night I hosted our spouses group coffee for 20 people and Friday morning it was time to start setting up and cooking for the party. (ALOT of cooking! I don't want to see corned beef or Irish stew again until next year!) The party was a great time. I can not tell you how much we appreciated the California weather last night. With the help of some outdoor patio heaters and a recently purchased fire pit our back yard gave us some much needed extra space for all our guests. We invited a great mixture of people from our last two assignments (Minot and Cape Cod), neighbors and friends. I think we had about 50 - 60 people. It was a very late night with the last of the group leaving somewhere between 2 and 3 am. (We had two of P's friends sleepover) It took about 3 hours this morning to get the house back to normal so by the time P rolled out of bed at 11 this morning everything was back to normal. Now it's time to start packing for the trip back to NY that the girls and I are taking later this week. The fun never ends!

This and That....

We have had ALOT going on in the last two weeks or so. I'll try to keep from rambling on but I can't promise anything. Let's see ...Phil was promoted to Major last weekend. YIPPEE! We celebrated with good friends and will be having a bigger promotion/ St. Patty's Day party this Friday. (Pictures will follow). The last ten years have flown by. Last night P had a "Blast from the Past" We made a rare trip to the club on base (I mention rare for a reason we've only been a few times since moving here). You know with it being Vandenberg you are bound to see ALOT of people you know from previous assignments but this time we ran in to someone we hadn't seen in over 9 years. P had gone to OTS with him and then out here for training and then they went on to Colorado Springs and we went to Minot. Tom, who we saw last night, ended up getting out and is now active reserve there and doing great. It was great to see him and do alot of catching up. Seems he's out here TDY often so we'll be seeing him again soon. Onto other things, lots of volunteering at the food pantry last week. We are serving over 20 families now each month. K had a field trip to go Whale Watching in Santa Barabara this past Thursday. I went with her and we had a fun time. We saw gray whales, sea lions, dolphins and sea otters. K was very happy with the otters. M got another great report card and we are so proud of her. OK, I am off to get a few things done before dinner. Both M & K are having sleepovers at friends' tonight so we're having a small group of friends over for dinner.
